A first time for everything...

Praise the Lord we are safely home in Charlotte. I am always freshly grateful for the blessing our of home (and friends who live so close to our home!) every time we return home from a trip. But the reason for the quick post, is that for the very 1st time tonight, Abigail is sleeping in her crib. Yep, I said the very 1st time and she's 14 months old! She started out in a bassinet in our room, then moved into our closet in a pack n play where she has happily slept the past 9 months. We felt it was time we took the leap and put the girls in their room together! Knowing that Abigail (our fall-asleep within seconds sleeper), had to share a room with Alathea, (our stay up for hours singing and playing make believe in my bed sleeper), has been the only reason we have waited so long! So far, they are not asleep yet, but I'm sure eventually they will be :) Alathea's done a pretty good job of being quiet, but Abigail seems very, very excited that she can see her sissy. Anyways, I'd love any suggestions you may have on a 1 and 3 year old learning to share a room and actually getting some sleep :)

Yay for Abby! I don't have any suggestions for a 1 and 3 year old...But i know my kids still do the same thing! I am sure the newness will rub off soon. You and Joe just need to decide what you want the rules to be. Our are stay in your own bed, don't get out of bed and not be loud. We usually tell them no more talking about 30 minutes after they have been in there. But normally they fall asleep on there own. Just a thought....Why don't you put Abby to bed a little before Alathea with a fan on so that way when Alathea goes in there she won't wake Abby up with her talking. Then once they are used to being in the same room you can put them to bed at the same time..

i was 5 when my sister moved into my room. (she was 1) we kept each other awake for some time each night until i moved out 15 years later. i loved having my sis there to talk to... maybe a little too much!

good luck with your wee ones!

Samuel and Keziah shared a room at 2 and 9mo. They talked, sang, ect. But we always thought of it as them building memories! They'll get sleep, and get sweet 'sister' time too! And if they are tired, nap time will be make up for it! ;)
